Archive Statuses and Important Fields
What this page helps with
The Archives area helps users understand what historical archive objects exist and what can still be done with them.
Main archive fields
The archive list usually focuses on:
- name
- status
- size
- message count
These fields are useful because they quickly show:
- whether an archive exists
- whether it is still active or already deleted
- how large it is
- how much historical content it contains
Status meaning
The most important distinction is usually:
- archived
- deleted
archived means the archive object still exists as an active historical object.
deleted means the entry may still be visible for traceability, but the underlying file is no longer active in the same way.
Expanded details
When available, details such as identifiers, creation time, file name, and path help users understand what exactly they are looking at.
This is especially useful when:
- several similarly named archives exist
- archive volume looks unusual
- a team needs to decide whether an archive should still be kept
Retention context
Retention usually comes from tenant-level behavior rather than from the list alone.
That means the archive list is best used to confirm the visible result of archive handling, not as the main place to design retention policy.
Common mistakes
- assuming every listed archive is still fully active
- reading size without also checking message volume
- treating archive visibility as the same thing as retention policy design
